What We Are

A global, independent forum advancing critical bioethics.

Committed to analytical clarity, conceptual rigor, and independence of judgment in addressing contemporary bioethical problems.

Who We Are

Members include philosophers, lawyers, clinicians, and scholars engaged in international and domestic bioethical work.

What We Do

Forum members meet monthly to discuss matters of bioethical significance and members author original works.

What Makes Us Unique?

Independent

No institutional affiliations. No outside funding.

Selective

A small, carefully vetted global membership.

Analytical

Focused on written work and sustained critical discussion.

Focused

Centered on the public and consumers of medical care.

History

Anne Zimmerman co-founded the forum with former co-chairs Bruce Jennings and Mary Beth Morrissey in 2021.

Since 2021, our members have met monthly to collaborate. We run drop-in sessions and members join working groups to publish collaborative works in journals.

The forum’s mission is to advance bioethics in the service of consumers and the public, protecting their rights and interests in an evolving medical landscape. We promote health, safety, and freedom through critical analysis of the social conditions that shape health, and of access to and protection from the products and services of scientific and medical innovation.

Innovative Bioethics Forum is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

Current board of directors: Anne Zimmerman, Meryl Selig, Emily Beer, Perry Zimmerman, Joel Janhonen, Cathy Purvis Lively.
